2. The WordPress Mobile Apps for iOS and Android
by James Frost
James will be giving a run through of the WordPress mobile apps, which are available for both iOS and Android devices. A lot of WordPress users don't even know they exist, but they can be really useful for managing your site on the go! They're free, open source, and work with both self-hosted (WordPress.org) and WordPress.com sites.
We'll look at features such as writing and managing posts, uploading media straight from your phone, and keeping on top of comments. We'll also cover some extra features that are available to users of the Jetpack plugin or for WordPress.com hosted sites, including notifications and viewing stats.
As a developer on the WordPress for iOS apps, James will also talk a little about how they're developed, and what new features are being worked on at the moment.
Level: Beginner
About James
James is an iOS app developer, and for the last couple of years has been working for Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, Gravatar and more, building new features for the WordPress app. Most recently, he's been improving the experience when uploading and managing media for your site.
When he's not coding or spending time with his family, James also helps organise SWMobile – a Bristol-based meetup group for mobile developers – and edits content for RayWenderlich.com, a mobile development focused tutorials site.

You'll be welcomed on arrival by our friendly and knowledgable volunteers, where you can grab your name badge and get settled in. We aim to start the talks at around 7pm so give yourself plenty of time to get a drink and have a graze from the buffet we are able to provide thanks to our generous sponsors.
We usually start the night off with some updates about what's happening in the local and national WordPress community and members are welcome to add their own updates. Just speak to one of the organisers before we start if you'd like to say or ask something.
After the first talk we take a break before our second talk. Following that if you want to stick around a few of us usually hang around for another drink and chat. The talks usually finish around 9.00pm (ish).
