Embedding Canvas Apps in Model-Driven PowerApps

7 August 2019

This month we have our own NYC Power Platform User Group regular Arun Vinoth Thiyagarajan presenting. Arun has been a Dynamics CRM/365 development and implementation expert for 13+ years, starting with CRM 4.0 up to the latest features of the latest Power Platform. He is an active volunteer on several online Dynamics communities and Stack Overflow.

His presentation will be about embedding a canvas PowerApp in a model-driven PowerApp. If you're not a Dynamics person, you may not be familiar with model-driven apps, which essentially are the low-code development platform for Dynamics. Model-driven apps are composed of components like Views, Forms, Dashboards, Site Maps, etc. which you create in a number of different designers.

However, model-driven apps design is fairly rigid, with components being placed in panes of a pre-determined size. Therefore, being able to embed a canvas app, which gives you the ability to create an app that has a completely pixel-flexible design allows developers to give a model-driven app the modern website-look that businesses expect today.

This integration of canvas and model-driven apps is an exciting Microsoft strategic initiative that you definitely want to know about!

As usual, pizza and sodas will be provided!
