The FIRST talk is from Graham Odds, a designer and developer working on complex systems across desktop, web and mobile. As Innovation Director at Scott Logic, he works primarily with financial services and energy trading institutions, creating everything from direct-to-consumer investment applications to research, trading and analysis tools.

His talk is entitled: 'The Mind’s Eye: How we perceive data'
Over the last couple of centuries, data visualisation has developed to the point where it is in everyday use across all walks of life. Data visualisation is generally recognised as an effective tool for both storytelling and analysis, overcoming most language and educational barriers. But why is this the case?
Scientific research is beginning to provide an insight into the neurological and psychological processes that underpin the principles of data visualisation. This talk will show how the science of visual perception explains why the principles of data visualisation are so effective, and how an understanding of the science behind best practice can improve the design of your visualisations.

Our SECOND speaker is Michael Haigney, whom at the time of writing this is "between roles" which plays to his interest in exploring "slow living", he's also a lover of minimalism. Michael just completed a contract advertised as a UX/UI consultant but to meet the needs of the team, project and organisation was actually a UI designer role!

Michael has a 20 year career in digital transformation and change, finding ways to improve experiences using new technologies and ways of working. He has driven international digital strategies, founded startups, worked as a consultant and contractor as a PM, PO, coach, trainer and everything in between.

In his talk: 'Is UX the new Agile?' Michael will explore his own journey and if organisations are finally ready to embrace UX and put it on the same footing as other disciplines.
