7.00pm - Talk - "A Year with the Kafka Streams DSL" with Adrian McCague from Zopa (https://www.zopa.com/)

Reflections on rebuilding our monolithic quotation engine as Kafka Streams microservices and taking them to production in Kubernetes. An abridged collection of pragmatic tips to apply when designing, developing and deploying stateful DSL topologies, with the occasional dive.

Adrian is a Senior Developer with experience across server, mobile and desktop software. Prior to working on Zopa's origination pipeline, he developed the "HideMyAss!" OS X Consumer VPN client. He is passionate about delivering quality software that does the right thing with respect to the user and applying best in breed technologies to the domain in hand.

7:50 pm - Talk - "End-to-End kafka topologies with Kafka and Connect and SQL - an IoT use case" with Stefan Bocutiu from Landoop (http://www.landoop.com/)

In this talk we will build streaming data pipelines using Kafka, Connect and SQL-like syntax, and deploy infrastructure via configurations. An IoT, use case will be used to drive a scenario of device data reaching a time-series database, and how Kafka can be leveraged to operate and manage streaming topologies.

Stefan, Head of Engineering at Landoop, has delivered successful Fast Data pipelines to Top Tier Banks in London, and is now leading the development of innovating solutions for Apache Kafka at Landoop, delivering solutions that integrate data sources, systems and data.
