Redefining your PMO for Agile

15 November 2018

New York

Added 01-Jan-1970

If your organization is transitioning to Agile, understanding what to do with the PMO can be challenging. Is there any value the traditional PMO can offer? Or are they just a dead man walking… gasping for air while they keep demanding Gantt charts and Utilization reports from teams that are trying to give them burndown charts and cumulative flow diagrams?

The good news is that there is still a lot of value that the PMO can offer to an agile organization. The bad news is that it is probably going to mean your PMO ha to completely reimagine its reason for existing and figure out what it can do to help.

In the first part of this session we will explore why agile transformation can be so challenging for a PMO that was created under a traditional model. We’ll also look at what happens to the folks who work in the PMO during the switch to Agile and why this change can be more difficult for them than anyone else. In the second part of the session Dave Prior will guide the participants through how to use the PMO Agility Canvas, a tool he developed to help PMO’s redefine their mission within the organization and how they can finally start supporting the adoption of Agile instead of hindering it.
