Spring It On

2 April 2019

London

Added 01-Jan-1970

The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and having been catapulted into an amazing 2019, it’s now time for another edition of Video Meetup!

To kick off Series 3, we’re back at Brightcove offices, where we have three fantastic sessions lined up. Make sure that the 2nd April is marked in your calendar as you really won’t want to miss any of these:

Lloyd Wallis - BBC - Discovering the scaling limits of iPlayer's live streaming platform

Last year, during the World Cup, the BBC Online had one of its highest-profile outages. The BBC's Media Services team will be doing a whistle-stop tour of the architecture's evolution to date and how it failed us during the final minutes of an England match. We'll then talk about what the next few years look like for the team as the platform is rebuilt based on lessons learned over the summer.

Dmitriy Bryokhin - Norigin Media - Building multiscreen video apps with React Native.

In this presentation, Dmitriy will explain (through live coding) how to develop apps across all relevant devices from mobiles to smart-tvs including iOS, Android, tvOS, Android TV, Samsung and LG Smart TVs from a single code base. Streaming should be available on any device, right?

Round Table Discussion - What Will 5G Mean for the Broadcast and OTT Video World?

We plan to have a round table discussion with a distinguished panel (exact details are still being finalised) where we explore in detail the impact that 5G may have on various aspects of video. Let’s face it, 5G is not just about the speed, is it?
