Visualising Data

21 November 2019

London

Added 01-Jan-1970

We are incredibly lucky to be able to organise an evening with two world-renowned leaders in the field of data visualisation – Stefanie Posavec and Jon Schwabish. They are hosting their Data, Designed workshop in London on November 21 and offered to do short talks afterwards.

## Stefanie Posavec - A community of data points

As a designer and author, Stefanie uses data-gathering and data visualisation as a design process, taking seemingly ‘cold’ data and using it to communicate warm, subjective messages in her creative practice.

She’ll be talking about her explorations in making data more engaging, memorable, and accessible to lay audiences who are new to data, using her more community-focused data outreach projects in hospitals and museums as case studies to show how data can be a powerful tool when creating public art.

Stefanie Posavec is a designer for whom data is her favoured creative material. This work has been exhibited internationally at major galleries including MoMA (New York), the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the V&A, the Design Museum, and the Wellcome Collection (London). Her work is also in the permanent collection of MoMA, New York.

She is currently working on a new book with the data journalist Miriam Quick to be published through Penguin Random House in Autumn 2020. Previous books (co-authored with Giorgia Lupi) include Dear Data and their journal Observe, Collect, Draw!
