Are you looking for a UX Designer or UX Consultant Job?

How your UX skills can help you

Whether you are a UX designer (UX, UXD, UED or XD) or a UX Researcher this is one of the most important areas for business and innovation right now and you are certainly in demand.

Companies have finally figured out that hard sell doesn’t work anymore and that selling experiences sometimes rather than products is more effective.  Those that get it right will have a serious competitive advantage.

There are some great UX design trends happening right now and the market is advancing fast.  The famous UX experience of last year was Pokémon Go which is a tough one to beat and this year the focus seems to be on interesting time saving intuitive design such as using chatbots or Artificial Intelligence saving customers and employees time.  Personalisation is becoming more prevalent with marketers targeting their prospects more carefully and users being bombarded less frequently with irrelevant content or products.  It is certainly time that metrics moved on also from time on site. number of pages or drop offs to more experienced based metrics to judge the impact that a product has.

UX is likely to specialise more now on new tech and industries such as VR, AI and health and fitness.  The UX team may widen to include anyone who plays a role in developing a user facing element of a product and not just designers alone especially as the ‘experience becomes the product’ in today’s new markets.  We are also likely to see more design teams hiring psychologists, physiologists, anthropologists, researchers, and other specialists to help design new experiences based on the way people behave such as their gestures, intonation and the way they use machines and equipment.

UX will also become key as a management practice where forward thinking companies understand that their employees experience matters when trying to encourage innovation in their companies.

All of these exciting changes in industry and society have led to an increase in UX jobs with permanent UX jobs increasing 12% in the last year and Contract UX jobs 7%.
