Are you looking for a Xamarin Developer Job?

How your Xamarin skills can help you

Xamarin is an Open Source (for non-commercial use) C# based project owned by Microsoft, part of the Visual Studio IDE and produces native apps that share much of the same code. It’s a mobile application development environment that basically consists of native SDK and C# libraries wrapped in the .NET layer and has its origins in the .NET and Mono frameworks (Mono being the Linux version of what .Net is for Windows).

Xamarin is thought to be perfect for companies from start-ups to enterprise who are keen to achieve native level performance whilst decreasing the development and maintenance costs that sometimes go along with native.  It’s the closest thing you can get to native without compromising on performance, UX and functionality.  Native languages are still superior currently but advances in Xamarin may negate this.

Demand for Xamarin developers has increased 113% in the UK for Permanent roles and 85% for Contract in the last year with contract pay increasing by 14.29% on average and there are currently twice as many Permanent as Contract roles on offer.

You will likely have quite an advanced skill set and will probably need C#, IDE .NET, Android, MacOS and iOS knowledge to work on any of the Xamarin products (Xamarin.iOS, Xamarin.MacOS or Xamarin.Android) although Xamarin applications are entirely written in C#.  However, it’s not loved by everyone and came in No.2 on Stack Overflow’s “most dreaded’ category in their famous Developer Survey with Cordova being first possibly because of the wide skill range required.  If you’re hot at .NET and C# and have Xamarin knowledge (or plan to get it) there are lots of great roles out there for you
