Our very own Senior Appointments recruitment specialist, Harry Hicks, is running the London Marathon on the 22nd April for Children with Cancer UK. He is running for Children with Cancer because he feels a close affinity with it due to family circumstances and in true amiable Harry style - ‘who couldn’t support children and cancer as a subject’
Harry is a veteran London Marathon runner having previously run in 2015 also for Children with Cancer UK. He finished with a time of 4hrs 45 mins which was fairly remarkable seeing as he had only had one 7 mile training run. That sort of 'training plan' resulted in a few issues with knees and shins afterwards but he reports that everything is in premium working order now.
Three years on and he is now older and wiser and a 'training plan believer' we're relieved to report and hopes to achieve a 4 hr 15 min time. His family don’t think he’ll do it, but at Explore we know he will - when his mind is set on a goal he always achieves it
He has been running 6 miles every morning with his girlfriend’s Italian Mastiff - Cosmo - ‘they are finally starting to bond’ and the growling is diminishing. Is Harry going for a run or just being chased? - either way it works as a training plan
Harry also runs in the gym for a few miles each evening with a longer run at the weekends of 11-12 miles and plans to increase those to 15 miles next week (Cosmo may be less than happy at this juncture)
And is Harry wearing a costume? Sadly no, but he’ll be sporting his Children with Cancer vest with pride with the Explore Group logo on it.
The Explore Group will be cheering him on and matching any donations made from Explore staff with an equal amount - so hopefully that will help him raise the £4000 he is trying to achieve. If you’d like to support Harry too then we're sure he'd love your help - please donate by clicking on the following link
