When it comes to building Apps or Games for Android, there are plenty of resources both online and offline to assist you. However, when it comes to understanding and custominsing the Android operating system itself to fit Embedded Systems, Smartphones, IoT devices and various other type of devices your options for learning are very limited (and in many cases inaccessible) - not to mention the cost of experimenting with real devices which can quickly add up to a big cost.

This half-day live and hands-on workshop, setup in the lively Churchill College conference center in Cambridge, UK, is the place to learn all you always wanted to know about Android's internal workings so you can venture into a topic which can open doors to endless possibilities and exciting projects.

Limited places and booking fees

To ensure the best quality of delivery there are only 10 places available (8 via online tickets and the remaining 2 are reserved for invitations only).

Please note this event will be free if you book the online tickets during the early-bird period. After the early-bird period you will be incurred a final £200 fee. More details are provided below.

*All* attendees will receive £50 of their booking fees "on completion" of the workshop. During the early-bird period the booking fee for online tickets is £50 which would mean the workshop will be free of charge for those who have booked early and completed the workshop. Attendees would therefore lose the full amount if they fail to attend. After the early-bird period, the booking fees for online tickets are increased to £250 which would mean a final cost of £200 to the attendees who booked after the early-bird period who also complete the workshop on the day.

Participants will be paired up to work together on the hands-on parts of the workshop using a real physical device to use as their development platform. The devices used are Sony Xperia X Compact Android smartphones which we would be customising and programming during the workshop. These devices are refurbished smartphones and have a retail price of about £100. You have the choice to purchase the smartphone development device at half this price, should you be interested, when booking your tickets.
