Everything happens at some point in time and space. How can data visualization provide geographic and temporal context to the complex systems and phenomena which shape our world? Data scientist and visualizer Will Geary will explore this question through a series of data animation projects, ranging from mapping urban transportation networks to the global weapons trade. This talk will present lessons learned from a map gone viral, and will introduce the creative and technical process behind animating large datasets using Processing, a graphics library for Java.
