Job Overview

Head of Engineering - Health-Tech Software (Ruby House) in City of London, London, UK

  • Reference - ADHSDQ2-23
  • Permanent
  • £120,000 - £130,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of software developers, providing direction and guidance on best practices for development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software products.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, develop project plans, and ensure timely delivery of software products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of software development projects.
  • Develop and implement development processes and methodologies to ensure that all software products meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Ensure that all software products are thoroughly tested, optimised, and maintainable, including conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and new technologies related to health-tech software development and provide recommendations to improve our development practices and products.
  • Manage budgets and resources, including personnel and infrastructure, to ensure successful delivery of software products within budget and timelines.
  • Ensure that all development projects are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in Health-Tech software development is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Ruby on Rails, and experience in other programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, software design principles, and agile development practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources.
