Salt and Grubhub will be hosting the inaugural Big Apple DevOps meetup.
We will have presentations from two speakers who will share their personal experiences leveraging best DevOps practices to help positively impact mindsets within an organization.
Presentation 1: Aaron Throckmorton – Ippon
Aaron Throckmorton
Aaron is a Software Consultant with Ippon leveraging multiple technologies related to DevOps and Cloud computing for clients. He will present a user case on how he and his team, in under 3 months, introduced DevOps techniques and new technologies to a client’s legacy Java enterprise environment from unsustainable and unpredictable production deployments to a healthy container scheduler environment.

Presentation 2: Alex Trevino - Grubhub
Alex Trevino
Alex is a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Grubhub working on the eCommerce core services team. Previous to starting with Grubhub in 2016, Alex also worked at CBS on online radio streaming products. Grubhub currently runs over 100 microservices, collectively exposing more than 3,000 distinct endpoints. In this talk, Alex will describe how he leveraged service discovery & the datadog metrics api to maintain self-updating dashboards that show request rates (2xx, 5xx), latency, etc. for all services & their respective endpoints.
